Catalogue Essay
Regarded as the flagship model of Hublot, the Big Bang revolutionized the watch industry with a bang by introducing the first wristwatch to be fitted on a rubber strap. Since its successful reception in recent times, the Big Bang model continues to flourish since its initial introduction in the 1980s. With an approach to fusing traditional Swiss watchmaking with contemporary materials and design, the Big Bang has witnessed a wide array of iterations over the years. One of the earliest to be featured was carbon fiber, as seen in some of the earlier Big Bang examples from the early 2000s.

The present Hublot Big Bang features a full carbon fiber case matched with a carbon fiber dial giving its signature “All Black” appearance. Measuring 44mm in diameter the case dimension is most certainly generous allowing for a sportier aesthetic. The present lot is offered with its full set of accessories and preserved in excellent overall condition.

Hublot

Swiss | 1980
Hublot was founded by Carlo Crocco in 1980 and named after the French word for "porthole," which resembles their iconic bezel design. Hublot's first watch followed three years of research and was the first wristwatch to be fitted with a natural rubber strap. The brand's most recognizable watch today is the 'Big Bang', which was first launched in 2005 upon the arrival of CEO and shareholder Jean-Claude Biver. Other noteworthy models are the 'Classic Fusion' and 'King Power'.
