Catalogue Essay
For example, his re-interpretation of the explosion numerals on the dial, and the large, tonneau-shaped, highly iconic case design were at the time very disruptive design choices for complicated timepieces. The movements as well are testament to his eccentric genius: next to classical complications such as the tourbillon and the minute repeater, Franck Muller developed more playful but sometimes equally complicated ones such as the Vegas (a functioning roulette), or the present “crazy hour”.
Inspired by a fascinating story told by Muller and his vacation at the Royal Palm in Mauritius.
“I thought to myself, I hate rules. But, in many ways, time itself is a rule. It is imposed on man. I want to create a watch that has no rules, but that always finds the right time regardless. And I will call this watch ‘Crazy Hours’.”— Franck Muller
The present Long Island Crazy Hour Colour Dreams Diamond is a show stopper. Extremely extravagant with a total of 528 diamonds weighing approximately 8.29 carats, bedazzled is an understatement. Complete with its certificate from Ginza Tokyo, it is numbered 18 and well-preserved throughout, the timepieces is powered by the caliber 2800V with a platinum rotor. For those who are not afraid to be in the spotlight, this is the perfect timepiece for you.
