  • Catalogue Essay

    - The F.P Journe Chronometre Souverain Nacre (mother of pearl in French) was reserved only for Journe's top clients and available for purchase only via the brand's boutiques.

    - Cased in an elegant (and collector favorite) 38mm platinum case the dial centre is decorated with Clou de Paris guillochage whilst the outer section of the dial is fitted with blue mother of pearl providing an exquisitely attractive and elegant result.

    - The Chronomètre Souverain is the simplest and purest iteration of Journe’s watches, with a deceptively restrained dial featuring power reserve and subsidiary seconds that belies the highly advanced chronometer-grade movement inside. Crafted in 18 karat pink gold and finely finished throughout, the caliber 1304 was built with the precision and technical mastery of marine chronometers in mind, as well as the wearability and comfort of the modern collector. The movement itself is a mere 3.75mm thick, and the overall thickness of the case measures just 8.6mm.

    - Only a handful of the Chronomètre Souverain Mother pf Pearl models have been made and make the present example an opportunity not to be missed.

    - Please note that the proceeds of the present timepiece will be donated by the consignor to UNICEF.

  • Artist Biography

    F.P. Journe

    Swiss • 1999

Founded by watchmaker François-Paul Journe in 1999, the F.P. Journe brand is relatively young, but already is as highly regarded by collectors as many distinguished manufacturers with centuries-old heritage. In the minds of the world's savviest collectors, Journe is producing some of the finest wristwatches the market has ever seen. Mastering his craft from restoring historical timepieces, he was the first to create a wristwatch incorporating two escapements that benefit from the phenomenon of resonance — the Chronomètre à Résonance.

Key models include the Résonance, tourbillon wristwatches incorporating a remontoir and the limited edition Vagabondage series. Especially sought-after are his earliest "souscription" watches, made in 1999.
