GOOD TO KNOW
• Marks the introduction of De Bethune’s 31st in-house movement
• Tribute to earliest models produced by the brand
• Complete set, in like-new condition, and from the original owner
• Titanium case with ogival lugs and sapphire display caseback
De Bethune’s designs, both aesthetic and technical, have evolved significantly since the brand first launched in 2002. The present “DB Eight”, first released in 2023, incorporates the classic spirit of early De Bethune with their signature ogival lugs, multi-patterned guilloché dial, and elegant Breguet numerals with the technical mastery and innovation of the MaxiChrono. The first De Bethune model to be released was indeed a single-button chronograph, the DB1, and the DB8 “Football” chronograph was a direct successor to the DB1, with only a single subdial for the 45-second counter. Additionally, these watches typically had solid casebacks.
The DB Eight pays homage to these previous iterations, but with a new in-house monopusher chronograph movement, the caliber DB3000, featuring an instantaneous 60-second counter activated through the crown. The balance wheel is rendered in titanium, matching the material of the case, in order to withstand temperature changes. The movement is beautifully hand-finished with hand-beveling and polishing throughout. All the spectacular features of the movement are visible through the sapphire caseback. The titanium case is delightfully light, featuring the classic bullet-form ogival lugs.
Coming with all its original accessories and from the collection of the original owner, this is the first DB Eight to appear at public auction, an amazing opportunity for the intrepid collector of independent watches.
