Good To Know:
- One of only two known white gold examples to appear in the market
- Salmon pink dial and pearl luminous markers
- Powered by the DR500 calibre with chronograph and date function
- Numbered 382
Roth recreated wristwatches directly inspired by Abraham-Louis Breguet’s pocket watches, producing some of the first modern perpetual calendar and tourbillon wristwatches. Roth left Breguet in 1987 to start his own brand.
He immediately created a personal design language, the most obvious being the unusual shape of his watches that later came to be defined as an ellipsocurvex, hands with pointed tips and dials with a horizontal guilloché pattern. Roth always worked with the greatest movement manufacturers of his time and the present chronograph houses a Zenith El Primero movement dubbed the DR500.
Part of the Hour Glass era while Daniel Roth remained largely involved in the production, the present S247 feature an elegant soft salmon pink dial with luminous minute markers. Extremely rare and cased in white gold, this example stands out from the regular stainless steel production. According to our research white gold takes up only a mere 5% of the production. Only two examples in white gold have appeared in the auction market so far, making this a highly prized addition to a collection.
