“To me, Credor is Seiko showing its traditional craftsmanship side. The Raden technique makes use of the natural, organic beauty of mother of pearl, carefully sliced into the finest slivers and inlaid into the dial. The Credor’s name was inspired by the French term “Crête d'Or” meaning pinnacle of gold where the brand began its origin in 1974 with precious metal watches. Launched in 2023 as part of the Art Piece Collection, the present ref. GCBY997 with a celestial appeal is part of a limited edition model of 60 pieces only. 

Inspired by Ryusei Raden 「流星螺鈿」meaning shooting stars, the dial shimmers like a meteor shower in a pitch black night sky. Masterfully crafted by Urushi lacquer artist Isshu Tamura 田村一舟, each piece of delicate mother-of-pearl inlay are cut to a mere 0.2mm thickness and carefully laid out to vividly form the scenery of countless stars. Each shell inlay radiates a spectrum of colors while indicating the passage of time poetically. Powered by a ultra slim manual-wound movement calibre 68 measuring at 1.98mm thin (roughly the thickness of a 500 yen coin), the movement were exclusive to Credor since 1993. Each of the parts are cut in 1/100mm units, finely decorated and assembled to the highest standard at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio in Iwate prefecture, where the most skilful watchmaker could only produce up to two movements per day.

クレドールの名前は、フランス語で金の頂点を意味する 「Crête d'Or 」にインスパイアされたもので、1974年に貴金属時計から始まったブランドでです。アートピース・コレクションの一環として2023年に発表された、天空の魅力を備えたRef. GCBY997は、60本の限定モデルです。

流れ星を意味する「流星螺鈿」にインスパイアされた文字盤は、漆黒の夜空に輝く流星群のようです。漆芸家・田村一舟氏の手による繊細な螺鈿細工は、厚さわずか0.2mmにカットされ、ひとつひとつ丁寧に敷き詰められ、無数の星の風景を鮮やかに形作っています。それぞれの貝の象嵌は、詩的に時の流れを示しながら、スペクトルのような色彩を放ちます。薄さ1.98mm（およそ500円玉の厚さ）の超薄型手巻きムーブメント、キャリバー68を搭載したこのムーブメントは、1993年以来クレドールだけのものです。岩手県にある雫石高級時計工房では、熟練した時計職人でも1日に2つのムーブメントしか製作できない中、各パーツは1/100mm単位でカットされ、精巧な装飾が施されて最高水準で組み立てられています。
