Few watches are as immediately recognizable as the Corum Coin watch. Introduce in the 1960s, it transformed the American Twenty Dollar Eagle gold coin into a functioning timepiece. The present coin watch sets its theme in the East with the Chinese Gold Panda coin. The Chinese Gold Panda coin was first launched by the China Mint in 1982: a .999 fine gold bullion that would distinct itself from other sovereign ounce then on the market. On the front, the Temple of Heaven where emperors once prayed for year’s harvest, inscription 中华人民共和国 and date year beneath the steps. The back is the national treasure representing peace and friendship: a panda with bamboo shoot which carried gold weight and purity inscription. The one-ounce mintage was modest, on the order of 13,500 pieces. Demand immediately outran that number, and the 1982 panda became a collector coin as much as a bullion piece, and each year the panda on the reverse would be different.

By 1991, the series celebrates its 10th anniversary added the face value of 100 yuan on the ounce with denominations matching the fractions frames the Panda scene. The 1991 version features an adorable panda sitting on a river bank , hind feet in the water and chewing on its favorite bamboo.

Preserved in exceptional condition with only a handful of the model ever to appear in the market, crisp hallmarks and fluted caseband remains untouched. The Corum gold buckle is further decorated with a red lacquer seal and stamped with numbers that matches the case.
