A celebration for champions like the World Cup trophy, this Cartier Pasha chronograph is for the ultimate football fan (soccer to some). A limited edition of only 35 pieces made in celebration of the 2002 FIFA World Cup jointly held by Japan and Korea with 32 competing countries. 70,000 thousand fans filled the Internation Stadium of Yokohama as Brazil takes home the champion with Ronaldo being the star player.

With football being one of the most popular sports in Japan, from manga Captain Tsubasa to the J. League, Cartier took this opportunity to dedicate one of its most popular model to this major event: Pasha de Cartier in white gold limited to 70 pieces and the present Pasha Chronograph ref. 2111 in full yellow gold. Gold like the glorious trophy, the ref. 2111 in 38mm diameter features a dial that screams FIFA.

The gridded dial reminds one of a football field with a football graphic placed at the 6 o’clock register in burgundy, a nice touch to the brand’s core color. Furthermore the bezel features 45 mins equivalent to half of match which is aptly fitting. Its movement is also decorated with the classic double C guilloché. Numbered 32 and preserved in excellent overall condition with its certificate and box offered for the first time at Phillips, this is the perfect timepiece for collectors to relive the moment of the World Cup in Japan.

    Cartier

    French

With the Constitution of 1848 came a new standard for luxury in France. Founded one year prior by Louis-Francois Cartier, the house of Cartier was one of the first to use platinum in jewelry making. This incredibly expensive material became the stepping-stone for Cartier to experiment in form, mechanisms and attitude. It helped men move from pocket watches to wristwatches, effectively making the watch much more functional and prominent in a man's overall wardrobe.

Cartier did not only touch on functionality. Inspired by a commissioned painting by George Barbier featuring a black panther at the feet of an elegantly bejeweled woman, Cartier began incorporating wild animals in his designs—most notably, Cartier Panthère rings, bangle bracelets and watches. Yet it wasn't until the late 1960s that the house of Cartier debuted their iconic yellow and rose gold LOVE collection, which includes the famous bracelet that only a special screwdriver can open.
