Good To Know:
- Possibly unique special order
- Attractive olive green dial with gold 5 minute accents and emerald cabochon crown
- Offered by the original owner

Designed by Louis Cartier in 1917, the Tank became commercially sold from 1919. The Tank Cintrée was then launched two years after, building upon the design language of the original inspiration. With its distinct DNA and Cartier’s perennial style, the reference's elegant curves and elongated silhouette became an instant classic.

While the Cintrée are familiar with the classic Roman numerals with chemin de fer design, the very first Arabic numerals dials were classically painted in black ink with a rare handful of pieces bearing the use of luminous radium moving into the late 1920s and early 1930s. The most famous example with made by Cartier London dated to 1929 was sold to none other than renowned Hollywood musical singer, actor and dancer, Fred Astaire.

With curves that hug the contours of the wrist, the present timepiece serves as a tasteful dress watch, fitting comfortably beneath the cuff. This example hails from the NSO programme of the Maison. Special ordered by the original owner with a bespoke design, the yellow gold Cintrée contour frames the warm olive green sunburst dial. Complemented with matching yellow gold accents on the 5 minutes minute track, the Arabic numerals stands out in white.

Extremely attractive and offered by the original owner, this Tank Cintrée is a tasteful iteration and certainly a wonderful representation of Cartier’s century old iconic timepiece for the discerning connoisseur.

Cartier

French

With the Constitution of 1848 came a new standard for luxury in France. Founded one year prior by Louis-Francois Cartier, the house of Cartier was one of the first to use platinum in jewelry making. This incredibly expensive material became the stepping-stone for Cartier to experiment in form, mechanisms and attitude. It helped men move from pocket watches to wristwatches, effectively making the watch much more functional and prominent in a man's overall wardrobe.

Cartier did not only touch on functionality. Inspired by a commissioned painting by George Barbier featuring a black panther at the feet of an elegantly bejeweled woman, Cartier began incorporating wild animals in his designs—most notably, Cartier Panthère rings, bangle bracelets and watches. Yet it wasn't until the late 1960s that the house of Cartier debuted their iconic yellow and rose gold LOVE collection, which includes the famous bracelet that only a special screwdriver can open.
