Catalogue Essay
I love all aspects of this Breuget but my favourite part of this Breguet is the markings on the enamel dial. The numerals are slight and painterly and the minute track is comprised of stars, diamonds and a flower-like motif. It also features a beautifully engraved rotor. - Mark Cho

- The present Breguet Classique ref. 1775 was introduced at the turn of the millennium to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the manufacturer. Encased in a classic 36mm diameter case with a fausses côtes embellished caseband, the present platinum example is simply iconic. Under the crystal lies a beautiful white enamel dial with its signature painted Breguet numerals, with an “invisible” Breguet signature hiding in plain sight, engraved subtly at the 12 o’clock position and is only visible with a loupe.

- The present example offered in excellent overall condition and is one of 225 pieces made of a commemorative unnumbered limited edition.

Breguet

Swiss | 1775
Established in 1775 by Abraham Louis Breguet, widely considered the greatest watchmaker of all time, the storied brand continues to thrive in the modern era, creating exceptional high-end watches as the Swatch Group's premier prestige brand. Some of the most important and lasting inventions in watchmaking are attributed to Abraham Louis Breguet, including the tourbillon, shock resistance and the use of hammers and gongs employed in nearly all minute repeating watches made since.

Eighteenth and nineteenth century Breguet pocketwatches are especially sought-after by collectors, and many of them were made for the elite of European society, including Napoléon and Marie Antoinette. Key wristwatches from the twentieth century include oversized dress watches, two-register chronographs, triple calendars and Type XX aviator's chronographs made for the French military and civilians.
