Catalogue Essay
The layout of the elements on this Breguet really catch my eye, with the moonphase at 10 o'clock, the logo at 2 o'clock and the sub-seconds at 6 o'clock. Combined with the sea of guilloche that the complications float on, I can't help but think of old pocket watches, beautifully miniaturized. - Mark Cho

- Breguet is best known for their preservation of intricate designs and craftsmanship. The present timepiece perfectly encapsulates their near-250 yearlong legacy, boasting a beautifully finished guilloche dial with a delicately balanced display of time. Featuring a Clous de Paris main dial, the textured canvas is framed by a Sauté Piqué chapter with black painted Roman numerals, a small seconds dial at 6 o’clock with a Écailles de Poisson center and lastly, a moonphase indication at 10 o’clock. A quintessential Breguet dress watch, the present example is also fitted in an iconic coin-edge case with signature blued steel moon-tip hands, completed by its individual serial number "3920" at two o’clock.

Breguet

Swiss | 1775
Established in 1775 by Abraham Louis Breguet, widely considered the greatest watchmaker of all time, the storied brand continues to thrive in the modern era, creating exceptional high-end watches as the Swatch Group's premier prestige brand. Some of the most important and lasting inventions in watchmaking are attributed to Abraham Louis Breguet, including the tourbillon, shock resistance and the use of hammers and gongs employed in nearly all minute repeating watches made since.

Eighteenth and nineteenth century Breguet pocketwatches are especially sought-after by collectors, and many of them were made for the elite of European society, including Napoléon and Marie Antoinette. Key wristwatches from the twentieth century include oversized dress watches, two-register chronographs, triple calendars and Type XX aviator's chronographs made for the French military and civilians.
