- In the mid-20th century, Breguet was commissioned by the French Ministry of Defense to deliver a wrist chronograph suitable for aerial manoeuvres, thus, resulting in the Type 20 watches. The “type” designation was not model-specific to any one brand, but rather a military specification. Not long after, Breguet released a civilian version with the designation Type XX.
- The aviator watches have become one of Breguet’s most praised chronograph watches. In 2023, the chronographs had a revamp and upgrade, releasing the Type 20 Chronographe 2057 and Type XX Chronographe 2067, inspired by the 1950s military version and civilian version respectively.
- Cased in 42mm stainless steel, the present Type XX Chronographe 2067, similar to the 1950s watch, features three registers, a 15-minute counter at 3 o’clock,12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, and small seconds at 9 o’clock. The date window is positioned at the 4:30 position. The luminescence also has a vintage-tinted hue, giving the impression of a watch that dates back to the 1950s and 60s.
- The cal. 728 that is housed by this watch is powerhouse to this new generation of Type XX chronograph. For a watch that is used for aviation and aerial operations, it retains its flyback chronograph function. The balance-spring, escape wheel and pallet lever horns are made of silicon, preventing the effect of magnetic fields and improving the overall performance, timekeeping of the timepiece.
