Good to Know:

- Tourbillon with hours and minutes
- Featuring a fully skeletonized movement with hand-executed filet sauté guilloché and rare platinum bracelet
- Accompanied by its full set of accessories

Few complications are as closely tied to Breguet as the tourbillon. Abraham-Louis Breguet patented the mechanism in 1801, although it was not until the late 20th century that the complication appeared in a modern Breguet wristwatch. During the revival of the brand, Daniel Roth looked closely at Breguet’s historic designs, helping shape the direction of its modern collections.

The Reference 3355 followed the earlier Reference 3350 in the 1990s, using the same calibre 558 while offering a far more open view of the mechanism. The present example takes this idea even further, with its platinum case and fully skeletonized dial leaving the movement completely exposed. The hours and minutes are positioned toward the top of the dial, while the tourbillon occupies the lower portion, creating a distinctive and well-balanced layout.

The hand-executed filet sauté guilloché adds considerable depth to the openworked architecture, with the intricate decoration contrasting against the exposed mechanics beneath.

Adding an extra level of desirability, collectability and flamboyance is the uber rare platinum bracelet fitted to the watch.

Presented in platinum and accompanied by its certificate of origin and presentation box, the present Reference 3355 is a particularly elegant expression of Breguet’s early modern tourbillon wristwatches.

Breguet

Swiss | 1775

Established in 1775 by Abraham Louis Breguet, widely considered the greatest watchmaker of all time, the storied brand continues to thrive in the modern era, creating exceptional high-end watches as the Swatch Group's premier prestige brand. Some of the most important and lasting inventions in watchmaking are attributed to Abraham Louis Breguet, including the tourbillon, shock resistance and the use of hammers and gongs employed in nearly all minute repeating watches made since.

Eighteenth and nineteenth century Breguet pocketwatches are especially sought-after by collectors, and many of them were made for the elite of European society, including Napoléon and Marie Antoinette. Key wristwatches from the twentieth century include oversized dress watches, two-register chronographs, triple calendars and Type XX aviator's chronographs made for the French military and civilians.
