Breguet

Ref. 5140BA

Classique

An exquisite and well-preserved yellow gold wristwatch with enamel dial, small seconds, warranty and presentation box

- Few names in watchmaking carry the same historical weight as Breguet. Founded in 1775 by Abraham-Louis Breguet, the maison continues to embody the ideals of refinement, balance, and technical innovation that shaped modern horology. The Classique ref. 5140 is a faithful heir to this tradition, offering a contemporary interpretation of Breguet’s timeless codes.

- At the heart of the ref. 5140 lies its grand feu enamel dial, a surface of exceptional beauty. The dial’s immaculate white backdrop provides the perfect stage for the brand’s unmistakable hand-shaped blued steel Breguet hands, gliding across exquisite Breguet numerals. The layout is further distinguished by a discreet subsidiary seconds dial at five o’clock, a subtle asymmetry that recalls early pocket watches from the maison. Upon close inspection, a secret signature is revealed below the Breguet signature, only visible at certain angles.

- Housed in a 40mm yellow gold case, the watch maintains a slender profile and features the fluted caseband that has become a Breguet signature.

- The present example is offered in hardly worn condition and accompanied by its full set of accessories.

Breguet

Swiss | 1775

Established in 1775 by Abraham Louis Breguet, widely considered the greatest watchmaker of all time, the storied brand continues to thrive in the modern era, creating exceptional high-end watches as the Swatch Group's premier prestige brand. Some of the most important and lasting inventions in watchmaking are attributed to Abraham Louis Breguet, including the tourbillon, shock resistance and the use of hammers and gongs employed in nearly all minute repeating watches made since.

Eighteenth and nineteenth century Breguet pocketwatches are especially sought-after by collectors, and many of them were made for the elite of European society, including Napoléon and Marie Antoinette. Key wristwatches from the twentieth century include oversized dress watches, two-register chronographs, triple calendars and Type XX aviator's chronographs made for the French military and civilians.
