Catalogue Essay
- Crafted to mark Breguet’s 225th anniversary, the Classique Ref. 1775 is a timeless expression of the brand’s dedication to elegance and horological excellence. Introduced around the year 2000, this commemorative model is housed in a 36mm platinum case, distinguished by its fluted caseband, a subtle nod to traditional craftsmanship.

- The true highlight lies beneath the crystal: a pristine white “Grand Feu” enamel dial adorned with graceful, hand-painted Breguet numerals. The minute track, composed of stars, diamonds, and floral motifs, adds a whimsical, almost poetic charm. At 12 o’clock, an “invisible” Breguet signature—engraved so discreetly it can only be seen under a loupe —pays homage to the brand’s historic attention to detail.

- This particular example is presented in excellent condition and belongs to a limited, unnumbered edition of just 225 pieces, making it a rare and highly desirable collector’s item.

Breguet

Swiss | 1775
Established in 1775 by Abraham Louis Breguet, widely considered the greatest watchmaker of all time, the storied brand continues to thrive in the modern era, creating exceptional high-end watches as the Swatch Group's premier prestige brand. Some of the most important and lasting inventions in watchmaking are attributed to Abraham Louis Breguet, including the tourbillon, shock resistance and the use of hammers and gongs employed in nearly all minute repeating watches made since.

Eighteenth and nineteenth century Breguet pocketwatches are especially sought-after by collectors, and many of them were made for the elite of European society, including Napoléon and Marie Antoinette. Key wristwatches from the twentieth century include oversized dress watches, two-register chronographs, triple calendars and Type XX aviator's chronographs made for the French military and civilians.
