Located at 40 East 57th Street, between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue, the building served as the landmark location for Audemars Piguet’s first boutique in the United States. On 23rd June, 2003, Arnold Schwarzenegger—a long-time friend of the brand whose passion for horology inspired several iconic Audemars Piguet creations—joined the manufacture to celebrate its grand opening. To commemorate this historic event, Audemars Piguet released a limited edition of 150 pieces of the present Royal Oak Chronograph, featuring a highly sought-after aesthetic.

Cased in a 39mm stainless steel three-body case with an ultra-rare black PVD coating, the watch presents a striking, monochromatic look. The black Tapisserie dial is outfitted with luminous Arabic numeral hour markers and the "AP" logo at 12 o'clock. Blackened winding crown, chronograph pushers and recessed sub-dials complete the stealthy, all-black livery.

The solid caseback features an engraved depiction of the New York boutique's facade alongside its legendary 40 East 57th Street address—a hallmark detail shared with other Audemars Piguet limited editions. Complete with its full set of accessories including the commemorative presentation box, this rare piece has been scarcely worn since 2003.

Audemars Piguet

Swiss | 1881

A specialist in the manufacture of complications since it was established in 1881, Audemars Piguet never ceases to impress with a rich history of creating bold, even audacious, timepieces underpinned by traditional watchmaking at its finest. This Le Brassus-based Swiss manufacturer is one of only two major manufacturers still owned by the founding family. Since its earliest days, AP is considered a leader in the field of minute repeaters and grande complication pocket and wristwatches. The brand is devoted to preserving the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux, showcased at their superb museum in Le Brassus.

Today, the brand is best known for its Royal Oak models, a revolutionary luxury sports watch launched in 1972. Other key models include early minute repeating wristwatches, vintage chronograph wristwatches, such as the oversized reference 5020, perpetual calendar watches and the Royal Oak Offshore, first introduced in 1993.
