Good To Know:

- Auction debut for this reference
- Frosted white gold texture designed by Italian jeweler Carolina Bucci
- Signature double balance wheel with gold balance bridge
- Like-new condition with full set of accessories

At SIHH 2016, Audemars Piguet unveiled reference 15407, featuring a breathtaking skeletonized movement with a double balance wheel architecture. While displaying a classic layout with central hours, minutes and seconds, the model's underlying technical innovation instantly rendered it one of the most coveted modern Royal Oak references.

That same year, Audemars Piguet collaborated with Italian jeweler Carolina Bucci to introduce a specialized "frosted" finish created by hammering the case surface with a diamond-tipped tool to yield a shimmering, micro-textured sheen. It wasn’t until 2018, the manufacture combined these two signature elements, releasing reference 15407 in 18K white gold featuring the Florentine-style frosted finish across the case and bracelet, elevating the model's desirability to new heights.

At the heart of the timepiece is cal. 3132, incorporating twin balance wheels mounted on a single axis. Designed to improve chronometric stability and accuracy by doubling the regulating organ's inertial mass, the system required Audemars Piguet to overcome substantial technical hurdles regarding friction, power delivery and energy management.

Kept in like-new, unworn condition within an important private collection, the present watch is offered complete with its full suite of original accessories. Marking the reference's debut at public auction, it represents an exceptional opportunity for collectors to acquire a formidable and striking masterpiece of contemporary horology.

Audemars Piguet

Swiss | 1881

A specialist in the manufacture of complications since it was established in 1881, Audemars Piguet never ceases to impress with a rich history of creating bold, even audacious, timepieces underpinned by traditional watchmaking at its finest. This Le Brassus-based Swiss manufacturer is one of only two major manufacturers still owned by the founding family. Since its earliest days, AP is considered a leader in the field of minute repeaters and grande complication pocket and wristwatches. The brand is devoted to preserving the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux, showcased at their superb museum in Le Brassus.

Today, the brand is best known for its Royal Oak models, a revolutionary luxury sports watch launched in 1972. Other key models include early minute repeating wristwatches, vintage chronograph wristwatches, such as the oversized reference 5020, perpetual calendar watches and the Royal Oak Offshore, first introduced in 1993.
