To celebrate its 125th anniversary, Audemars Piguet created a selection of special watches that reflected the manufacture's heritage while showcasing its ability to produce highly exclusive creations. Alongside the commemorative models, a handful of unique pieces were made, each with its own character. The present watch is one of them.
Crafted entirely in white gold, it pairs a softly curved case with a matching integrated bracelet, giving it an elegant and understated presence on the wrist. The deep cosmos blue dial provides a striking contrast, while the diamond-set bezel, composed of 38 brilliant-cut diamonds, adds just the right amount of brilliance without distracting from the overall design. Classical Roman numerals at the quarter hours and polished dot indexes complete a dial that is both refined and well balanced.
Inside is the manually wound calibre 2080, an ultra-thin movement chosen to preserve the watch's slim profile and elegant proportions. Turning the watch over reveals perhaps its most important detail: the caseback is engraved "Pièce Unique 125 ans", confirming that it was created as a unique watch to mark this important milestone in Audemars Piguet's history.
More than simply an anniversary edition, the present watch is a one-of-a-kind creation. Combining precious materials, a timeless design and unique provenance, it represents a fascinating example of the bespoke work Audemars Piguet was capable of producing at the turn of the millennium.
