Catalogue Essay
- As a flagship model for A. Lange & Söhne, the highly sought-after Lange 1 made its debut in 1994, marking one of the brand's first serial productions after its revitalization by Walter Lange. It quickly garnered attention from connoisseurs with its elegant proportions, distinctive asymmetrical dial, and oversized date display inspired by the five-minute clock at the Semper Opera House. In 1997, the firm introduced the Little Lange 1, featuring a more compact case size of 36.1mm.
- Over the years, the Little Lange 1 has thrived, offered in various case materials and dial options, often adorned with a gem-set bezel. The collection has included a range of dial designs, from those that echo the original to guilloche and beautiful mother-of-pearl variants. Initially, the model wasn’t as popular—collectors typically gravitated toward the standard Lange 1—but it has gained traction recently, particularly among female collectors. In particular, the Lange 1 Soirée models were introduced in 2001 known for their mother-of-pearl dials.
- The current example of the Little Lange 1 Soirée in pink gold is one of the more elegant releases in the lineup. It showcases a lovely pink-mother-of-pearl dial paired with a sparkling diamond-set bezel, giving this timepiece a distinctive charm that sets it apart, thanks to its gem-setting and rarity.
- It is confirmed by A. Lange & Söhne that only a few dozen pieces of the LANGE 1 'Soirée' ref. 813.033 were ever produced, making it a very rare and spectacular timepiece not to be missed at this auction.

A. Lange & Söhne
German | 1845Originally founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Dresden, Germany, the firm established an entire watchmaking culture and industry in Glashütte. The brand quickly became Germany's finest watchmaker, first creating dependable, easy-to-repair watches before going on to produce some of the world's finest complicated pocket watches, including Grande Sonnerie watches, tourbillon watches and Grande Complications.
On the final day of World War II, their factories were destroyed by Russian bombers, and in 1948 the brand was confiscated by the Soviet Union. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, Ferdinand's great grandson Walter Lange re-established the brand with the objective to once again produce top-quality luxury watches. Now part of the Richemont Group, its original vintage and modern creations are highly coveted by collectors. Key models from the modern era include the Lange 1, Pour Le Mérite Tourbillon and the Zeitwerk.
