GOOD TO KNOW
• Early sans serif “Made in Germany”, or “MIG”, dial
• Sought after Lange 1 “Stealth” reference

-Introduced shortly after the historic revival of A. Lange & Söhne, the Lange 1 ref. 101.025 represents one of the most discreet and elegant executions of the manufacture’s signature model. Affectionately nicknamed the “Stealth” by collectors, its substantial 38.5mm platinum case is paired with a restrained silvered dial, creating an exceptionally understated monochromatic aesthetic.

-Further enhancing its appeal, the present piece features an early “Made in Germany”, or “MIG”, signature in a smaller size with a sans-serif font, while later “MIG” dials are signed in a larger format using Lange’s signature serif-laden typeface.

-The Lange 1’s distinctive asymmetric display balances hours and minutes, subsidiary seconds, power reserve and the manufacture’s signature outsize date without overlap. The present ref. 101.025 further distinguishes itself from the earlier solid caseback ref. 101.005 through its sapphire crystal display back, revealing the exceptional finishing for which the Glashütte manufacture is celebrated.

-Visible beneath is the manually wound caliber L901.0, featuring 53 jewels and approximately 72 hours of power reserve. Characterized by its German silver three-quarter plate, screwed gold chatons and hand-finished components, the early movement beautifully embodies the traditional Saxon watchmaking that helped establish A. Lange & Söhne as one of the foremost manufactures of the modern era.

A. Lange & Söhne

German | 1845

Originally founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Dresden, Germany, the firm established an entire watchmaking culture and industry in Glashütte. The brand quickly became Germany's finest watchmaker, first creating dependable, easy-to-repair watches before going on to produce some of the world's finest complicated pocket watches, including Grande Sonnerie watches, tourbillon watches and Grande Complications.

On the final day of World War II, their factories were destroyed by Russian bombers, and in 1948 the brand was confiscated by the Soviet Union. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, Ferdinand's great grandson Walter Lange re-established the brand with the objective to once again produce top-quality luxury watches. Now part of the Richemont Group, its original vintage and modern creations are highly coveted by collectors. Key models from the modern era include the Lange 1, Pour Le Mérite Tourbillon and the Zeitwerk.
