- MB&F founder Maximilian Büsser first started M.A.D.Editions as the brand’s side project in the hope of introducing timepieces with a vision and concept at a more affordable price point. Following M.A.D.1 with Büsser’s name engraved on the caseback, M.A.D.2 honours 20-year creative partner and designer of MB&F Eric Giroud on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of MB&F.
- Whilst M.A.D.2 comes in various colours, the present blue dial variant is a limited production watch that is only available selected retail partners of the brand during the World Tour.
- The look of the watch is somewhat unusual, with a jumping hour display on the left and a rotating minutes display on the right. In fact, the layout is inspired by Giroud’s clubbing days, with the parallel set up resembling DJ mixing consoles. The two subsidiary dials lay on a textured and grooved central dial that pays homage to the surface of vinyl records. Surrounding the dial is the self-winding rotor inspired by the stroboscopic band of the Technics SL-1200 turntable from the 1970s.
- The watch operates on the La Joux-Perret cal. G101 movement, same as the previous M.A.D.1S, with a bespoke jumping hour module developed by MB&F.
