“The House of Graff stands for the finest, the rarest and only the very best stones” – Laurence Graff

These Butterfly Necklace and Earrings (lots 76 and 77) exemplify those words with their signature motif. Butterflies symbolize endurance, hope, and renewal and now that the world is starting to emerge from loungewear and Zoom meetings, the Graff Butterfly is a stunning way to celebrate.

JAR, A Pair of Aluminum and Gold ‘Pansy’ Earrings. Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000.

JAR is the most coveted contemporary jeweler, and these Pansy earclips are a standout lot in our sale. Made for the Somerset exhibition in 2002, these pansy flowers were gifted by JAR as a sentimental gesture and token of appreciation to the 145 collectors who loaned their jewelry for the exhibition; an additional 1000 pairs were made available for purchase by visitors at the show. No jewel by JAR would be complete without a hidden meaning, and these earrings are a sweet example of that sentiment. The French word for pansy, pensée, is a homonym which means both flower and to think. Made popular in 19th century jewelry, the pansy was often presented alongside the phrase “pense à moi”, or “think of me”.
