Mel Bochner, Amazing, 2012. Evening & Day Edtiions London.
2024? Hardly miss it, mate. We only look forward around here, and with the new year comes a new set of goals for the next spin around the old sun with a signature Editions twist. It's a time of renewal and accomplishing the things we've always been capable of doing – especially when the Evening & Day Editions London Sale brings miles of fun and none of the soreness of the usual morning run ambitions. We'll check back on those in the summer; for now, these are the artists and works keeping us accountable in the early stages of 2025.
Try new recipes
Ed Ruscha, News, Mews, Pews, Brews, Stews & Dues, 1970. Evening & Day Editions London.
Rebecca Tooby-Desmond, Specialist, Head of Sale
Spread the news! Or should that be squeegee the stews, or pull the pews? Whatever you do, don’t stop the press! This year I resolve to embrace the experimental and raid Ruscha’s printing pantry: blackcurrant with salmon roe, chocolate syrup with squid ink, baked beans, strawberry, and don’t forget to Bring out the Branston! I can’t think of a more moreish mouthful: yum, scrum and leave no crumbs!
Dance like no one is watching
Julian Opie, Figure 4, from Dance, 2023. Evening & Day Editions London.
Robert Kennan, Head of Editions, Europe
Opie distils the essence of his subjects so succinctly. I enjoy the repetition of the lenticular looping over and over again as I sway side to side, entranced. It’s a catchy beat. My anonymous partner, Travolta like from the opening credits of “Staying Alive”, moves confidently with powerful shoulders. Dancing? Asking? My back’s off the wall. I’m lost in music. Feeling the beat from the tambourine, oh yeah!
Eat more fruit
Andy Warhol, Peaches, from Space Fruit: Still Lifes, 1979. Evening & Day Editions London.
Anne Schneider-Wilson, Senior International Specialist
I know, I know, it is such an obvious new year's resolution – To Eat More Fruit! But hear me out. It is not just fruit, it is delicious, juicy, scrumptious, succulent and mouth-watering peachy space fruit. Come and join the ride!
Learn to drive
Susan Hiller, Rough Version, 2012. Evening & Day Editions London.
Christian Rosolino, Editions Adminstrator
Is there any better feeling than zooming down a coastal road towards the seaside, the wind in your hair, the waft of fish and chips in the breeze, your gloved hands smoothly gripped around the steering wheel? Well… is there? I wouldn’t know, having been relegated to the back seat as a self-proclaimed passenger princess. If there is any place that can inspire me to finally learn how to drive, it’s the British seaside. And if there is any artwork that can remind me of what I am missing, it’s Susan Hiller’s epistolary Rough Version.
I have ridden the coattails of the saying "Some people are meant to drive, while others are meant to be driven" for far too long; it is now my turn to sit in the driver’s seat! Move over Hamilton, there’s a new racer on your streets. DVLA, I’m on my way!*
*If I don’t show up until 2026, it’s because I ran into terrible traffic…

To be or not to be
Loved
2025, a Classic Love would be enough!
I don’t need no sparkles
No high maintenance
No narcissist seeking similar
Bye 2024, International Lonely Guy
Welcome 2025, an Indiana Love would be enough!
But an Indiana rug would be best
To sit down and seek myself
