  • Vik Muniz’s reinterpretation of Titian’s famous painting from 1549 depicts Prometheus, the Titan god of forethought enchained after stealing fire from the gods to give to mankind. In this key piece from his Pictures of Junk series, Muniz uses an array of modern society’s refuse—everything from crushed cans and waste bins to computers and cash registers—to reimagine the famous scene.
