Catalogue Essay
- Paying homage to the legendary manual‑winding chronograph Cornes de Vache ref. 6087 of 1955, the present modern interpretation—ref. 5000H/000R-B059 reimagines a historic icon with contemporary refinement. Instantly captivating, the evocative name “Cornes de Vache”, or “bull’s horns,” refers to the boldly sculpted, powerfully curved lugs that define both the vintage original and this modern execution, lending the watch a distinctive and sensuous presence.

- Rendered in a warm pink gold 38.5 mm case, the watch strikes an elegant balance between classical proportions and modern wearability, seamlessly bringing this storied Vacheron Constantin design into the present day. While preserving the original’s defining DNA—such as the pump pushers and blued chronograph hand—the modern iteration introduces larger chronograph registers, enhancing legibility while reinforcing its contemporary character.

- The true centerpiece, however, lies within. Visible through the sapphire caseback is the exquisitely finished manual cal. 1142, a movement rooted in the revered Lemania 2310 architecture. Featuring a column‑wheel‑controlled chronograph with lateral clutch, a large balance, and a Breguet overcoil balance spring, the calibre exemplifies traditional high watchmaking at its finest and bears the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva, attesting to its exceptional quality.

- On the wrist, the Cornes de Vache in pink gold wears with effortless elegance and presence. Paired with a brown crocodile leather strap, this example is offered unworn condition and accompanied by its full set of accessories.

Vacheron Constantin

Swiss | 1755

The world's oldest watch brand in continuous operation since its founding in 1755, Vacheron Constantin was the first watch company to manufacture movements with interchangeable parts beginning in 1839. Vacheron's watches are admired for their Latin-influenced case designs, well-balanced proportions and exquisitely finished movements of the highest quality. The Geneva-based manufacturer is known for their highly complicated masterpieces, including the King Farouk Grand Complication made in 1935, the Tour de l'Ile that was the most complicated serially produced wristwatch when introduced in 2005 and the 57260 — the world’s most complicated watch — made in 2015.

Key vintage models include minute repeating wristwatches such as the references 4261, chronographs such as the references 4178 and 6087 and the oversized Cioccolotone models such as ref. 4737. Collectors also appreciate Vacheron's Chronometer Royal pocket and wristwatches, as well as the '222,' the brand's first luxury sports watch produced from 1977 through 1984.
