Catalogue Essay
Stated on the dial, the Compax has always been a focus point for Universal Genève wristwatches. Introduced in 1935, it was the most celebrated watch produced by the manufacturer with various case and dial configuration pleasing the minds of all.
With much animosity, the Space-Compax was initially portrayed as a diver’s watch, due to its illustrious oversized rubber-tipped chronograph pushers. However, during its initial launch in the 1960’s, it was also an exciting period for the race to space with heavy involvement from the horological industry. It is with no doubt that Universal Genève issued the Space-Compax as a means to join the others to fight for the title.
The present example fitted with a beautiful matte black dial with a voluptuous orange chronograph hand is an attractive example of a Space-Compax and further accompanied by the original certificate of guarantee and presentation box.
