Chronometer San Marco “Flying Cloud”

A rare and attractive limited edition pink gold wristwatch with cloisonné enamel dial, certificate and presentation box, numbered 3 of a limited edition of 30 pieces

- The present Ulysse Nardin San Marco Chronometer showcases a stunning cloisonné enamel dial that portrays the remarkable Flying Cloud clipper ship. During the early days of the California Gold Rush, the most expeditious means of traveling from New York to San Francisco was by ship, a journey that typically spanned 200 days. However, in 1851, the Flying Cloud shattered records by completing the voyage in a mere 89 days, a record that remained unbroken until 1989.

- To commemorate this incredible feat, Ulysse Nardin meticulously crafted a miniature cloisonné enamel dial. The creation of each individual dial necessitates over half a meter of fine gold wire, measuring a mere 0.07mm in thickness. Moreover, it involves more than 26 baking processes, requiring a total of over 50 hours to complete.

- The present timepiece, which comes in pink gold and is numbered 3 out of a limited edition of 30 pieces, is exceptionally well-preserved and in excellent overall condition. Furthermore, it is accompanied by a full set of accessories. Please note that the proceeds of the sale of the present watch will be given by the Consignor to various charities.
