- Released in 2019, this Tudor Pelagos is a commemorative piece to celebrate the milestone 40th anniversary of the Singaporean luxury watch retailer The Hour Glass.
- What makes this watch special is the customized dial with the red signature at 6 o’clock, writing “Pelagos 40-1979”, in which 1979 was the year The Hour Glass was founded. The dial is in deep black paired with the iconic Tudor snowflake hands, which facilitates underwater legibility. It matches well with the unidirectional rotatable bezel in titanium inserted with a ceramic matte black disc that also is luminous in low light. Flipping to the back is a caseback engraved with The Hour Glass logo, a nice touch to the special piece.
- Whilst the first generation of the Pelagos operates on the ETA cal. 2824 movement, the present example, the second generation Pelagos, uses the in-house cal. MT5612 movement. The second generation was released in 2015, and the movement is one of the first Tudor in-house movements to be chronometer certified by COSC.
- The titanium bracelet with deployant clasp has a safety catch in steel, featuring an extension system developed and patented by Tudor. It is so innovative that allows adjustment without the use of tools up to three positions. It also has an auto-adjust position which the spring-loaded system will ensure the watch is safely fastened to the wrist, compensating the compression of the dive suit from underwater pressure.

Swiss | 1926Almost twenty years after Rolex was founded, Hans Wilsdorf established Tudor with the intention of making more affordable watches without compromising the quality for which Rolex was renowned. Tudor was named after the British Dynasty that ruled England from 1485 to 1603, and their symbol came from the "War of Roses." After interchanging Rose and Shield symbols for a number of years, the firm replaced the Rose with the Shield logo from the 1960s until today.
Some of the most recognized vintage models made by Tudor include the Submariner, a waterproof model first introduced in 1954, the Oysterdate, the earliest versions of which were nicknamed the "Monte-Carlo," the Heritage, which included the date at 6 o'clock, as well as the Pelagos, which translates to "deep sea" in Greek.
