Catalogue Essay
Founded in 1892 by master watchmaker Paul Ditisheim, Titus created some of the most unusual dive watches in the 1960s through their dive watch line, Calypsomatic.
This example is fitted with a number of striking design elements of a dive watch. Firstly, the black lacquer dial is very vibrant, exhibiting a mirror finish so beloved by watch collectors and scholars. The luminous material on the hands and luminous plots have aged with warm orange patina, and the watch is fitted with a red and black "roulette" date wheel. The rotatable bezel furthermore retains luminous material at 12 o'clock.
Presented in excellent overall condition, this watch is a very unusual and striking contender for the collectible "tool watch".
