Introduced in 2022, Tiffany & Co.’s "Time Objects" collection redefines traditional clockmaking by infusing haute horlogerie with playful, imaginative sculpture. Drawing inspiration from the House's long-standing heritage of handcrafting automotive racing trophies since 1904, the Time for Speed table clock takes the dynamic form of a 1950s single-seater race car.

Crafted from aluminum and stainless steel, the aerodynamic bodywork is finished in the signature Tiffany Blue™ automotive paint. The number "57" painted on the front bonnet pays homage to the House’s historic flagship boutique located at 727 Fifth Avenue on the corner of 57th Street in Midtown Manhattan. Reading time on the clock is seamlessly integrated into the car's body, utilizing rotating discs viewed through a brushed aperture along the side to indicate hours and minutes.

Unlike the gem-set edition created for the Japanese market featuring diamonds, the present lot is the sleek, unadorned version that highlights clean metallic lines and graphic contrast. The clockwork is powered by L’Epée 1839’s in-house cal. 1855 MHD manual-wind mechanical movement. Visible beneath a glass dome at the driver’s seat, the movement offers an 8-day power reserve, an escapement that mimics the idle tick of an engine and an interactive winding feature—wound by pulling the rubber tires backward on a flat surface and set via the three-spoke steering wheel. Combining automotive nostalgia, Swiss mechanical excellence and Tiffany design heritage, this Time for Speed race car clock represents a whimsical objet d’art for discerning collectors.
