Together with reference 6270, Rolex’s reference 6269 takes a very prestigious position as the most lavish, exclusive and certainly boldest manual Cosmograph ever produced. Its bezel is set with 48 brilliant-cut diamonds, most examples were also fitted with a pavé dial, set with 240 round-cut diamonds. These two models were the first chronographs by Rolex finished in jewelled cases.The present example, coming from a very private European collection, is completely fresh to the auction market and in close to mint condition. Probably never worn and certainly not polished, it still retains its original green sticker on the back. It is of such good condition with the gold printed coronet and reference number untouched that it is safe to assume that the watch has spent most of its life in a security vault.Originally sold in Spain, it still has the original riveted Oyster bracelet, original box (actually, suitcase is a more appropriate word) and certificate; this is possibly the best preserved example to come to the market in quite some time.
