The Rolex ref. 336934, released in 2023, is the latest update to the Sky-Dweller line. An easy way to distinguish the ref. 326934 and this latest release, is the two newly added tiny Rolex crowns at the 6 o’clock “Swiss Made” position. The new reference of the Sky-Dweller is also first time seen at Phillips Auction.
Being one of the most complicated Rolex watches in modern times, this annual calendar GMT watch cleverly hides the complex adjustments into subtle mechanisms. The Rolex fluted bezel is a signature of the brand, the elegant look of it is an iconic aesthetic element of the brand, at the same time, acting as a waterproofing agent by screwing onto the case. The Sky-Dweller, with just one crown, keeps the clean look by adding the Ring Command System which is an interactive mechanism to adjust the dual-time, date and calendar function by rotating the fluted bezel. It is a secure mechanism to ensure the waterproofness of the watch, as well as a quick and easy way to manipulate the functions of the watch. The newly updated Sky-Dweller also houses the new cal. 9002 movement, featuring a skeleton rotor disc and the Chronergy escapement, ensuring the accuracy of timekeeping.
Being kept in excellent condition along with its set of accessories, this is a rare opportunity to acquire this well-desired Rolex Sky-Dweller without the need of lengthy waits at the boutiques.
Rolex
Swiss | 1905Founded in 1905 England by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis as Wilsdorf & Davis, it soon became known as the Rolex Watch Company in 1915, moving its headquarters to Geneva in 1919. Like no other company, the success of the wristwatch can be attributed to many of Rolex's innovations that made them one of the most respected and well-known of all luxury brands. These innovations include their famous "Oyster" case — the world's first water resistant and dustproof watch case, invented in 1926 — and their "Perpetual" — the first reliable self-winding movement for wristwatches launched in 1933. They would form the foundation for Rolex's Datejust and Day-Date, respectively introduced in 1945 and 1956, but also importantly for their sports watches, such as the Explorer, Submariner and GMT-Master launched in the mid-1950s.
One of its most famous models is the Cosmograph Daytona. Launched in 1963, these chronographs are without any doubt amongst the most iconic and coveted of all collectible wristwatches. Other key collectible models include their most complicated vintage watches, including references 8171 and 6062 with triple calendar and moon phase, "Jean Claude Killy" triple date chronograph models and the Submariner, including early "big-crown" models and military-issued variants.
