GOOD TO KNOW
• Dual Time With Ingenious Annual Calendar Housed in 18 Karat White Gold
• Complete Set

- Rolex introduced their first revolutionary dual time wristwatch in 1955 with the reference 6542 GMT-Master and while the model remains in production today, in 2012 the brand introduced the Sky-Dweller wristwatch bringing new patented technology and design to the dual time zone concept. Introduced at Basel World, the reference housed Rolex’s first major new complication since the release of the Yacht-Master in 1992.

- The Sky-Dweller was offered in yellow and white gold as well as Everose and featured an annual calendar along with a dual time zone function. The caliber 9001 incorporated an innovative “Ring Command” fluted bezel mechanism allowing the wearer to easily adjust the date, local time, and home time through the rotating bezel and winding crown. Unlike the GMT-Master models, the dual time function is observed through a center dial with red triangular pointer, while the month is indicated through a red aperture at each of the Roman numeral hour markers, and the date in a typical aperture at 3 o’clock. The new movement’s engineering and design layout brought forth a new era in mechanical sophistication and harmony.

- The present 18K white gold Sky-Dweller is complemented by the black dial and is a wonderful representation of Rolex’s horological excellence. The watch is in very good overall condition and complete with its full suite of accessories.

Rolex

Swiss | 1905

Founded in 1905 England by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis as Wilsdorf & Davis, it soon became known as the Rolex Watch Company in 1915, moving its headquarters to Geneva in 1919. Like no other company, the success of the wristwatch can be attributed to many of Rolex's innovations that made them one of the most respected and well-known of all luxury brands. These innovations include their famous "Oyster" case — the world's first water resistant and dustproof watch case, invented in 1926 — and their "Perpetual" — the first reliable self-winding movement for wristwatches launched in 1933. They would form the foundation for Rolex's Datejust and Day-Date, respectively introduced in 1945 and 1956, but also importantly for their sports watches, such as the Explorer, Submariner and GMT-Master launched in the mid-1950s.

One of its most famous models is the Cosmograph Daytona. Launched in 1963, these chronographs are without any doubt amongst the most iconic and coveted of all collectible wristwatches. Other key collectible models include their most complicated vintage watches, including references 8171 and 6062 with triple calendar and moon phase, "Jean Claude Killy" triple date chronograph models and the Submariner, including early "big-crown" models and military-issued variants.
