With the initial launch of the prestigious Day-Date in 1956, the model has evolved into various dial configurations, sizes and materials. Traditionally housed in a 36mm round oyster case, a larger sized Day-Date was introduced. Released in 2008, the Day-Date II was a larger version of the original Day-Date 36mm. Rolex created the model as many clients thought that a 36mm case was too small even for a dress watch in today’s standard. It was replaced by the refined and slightly thinner Day-Date 40 in 2015.
The present example is one of the last Day-Date II produced with a guarantee card stamped 2015. Housed inside a beautiful and weighted platinum case is the reliable and robust cal. 3156 under a splendid ice blue dial with diamond indexes.
