Catalogue Essay
- Made for a legend with 22 Grand Slam titles, the Richard Mille Rafael Nadal collection is as extraordinary as the Spanish Tennis Champion. Graced with equal rigours of passion and reinvention, the collaboration began with the first RM027 with and proprietary carbon nanotube case with cable-suspended movement in 2010.
- Built for the ultimate, in 2016 Richard Mille leaped forward with the self-winding RM35-02 featuring the patented variable-geometry rotor powering the calibre RMAL1 which allows adjustment cater to the wearer’s activities.
- Ultra-light, the wet-sandblasted grade 5 titanium bridges and baseplate in black are PVD/Titalyt-treated, its skeletonized movement not only showcases the double barrels for greater torque stability from the front, but also for the first time for the RM35 on the reverse with a sapphire caseback.
- The model was available in Quarts-TPT Red as well as Carbon TPT (Thin Ply Technology) in black like the present example. Hinting the player’s Spanish DNA, the timepiece incorporated hints of Red and yellow like its country flag.
- A featherweight watch but it has been designed to withstand the shocks and G forces generated by a professional tennis player and in particular, Nadal’s incredible force when hitting a tennis ball. In fact, the watch can withstand an astounding accelerative force of 5,000Gs.
- A piece of engineer marvel, the present RM35-02 is in hardly worn condition with a recent maintenance for optimal performance.
