Catalogue Essay
Entering the new millennium with an uplifted sense of ingenuity and excitement, Piaget released the Upstream in 2001. With the rise in demand for stainless steel wristwatches with bracelets, the Upstream was Piaget’s answer to the contemporary trend. With an unusual approach to design and form, the bracelet and case construction was something truly unique. To enhance its comfortability on the wrist, the bracelet is designed without the existence of a traditional clasp and it is done so by lifting the bezel to open or widen the bracelet. Discontinued in 2007, the Upstream is arguably one of the greatest creations made by the firm from the respective era.

The present example is offered in pristine condition with its full links intact and further accompanied by its full set of accessories. This is truly a fascinating wristwatch with an unconventional design with its function determined by its unique form.

Piaget

Swiss | 1874
Creativity, audacity and know-how are the values that gave Piaget its international reputation and allowed the brand to distinguish itself in the world of fine watchmaking and precision. Founder Georges Edouard Piaget established the company in 1874 and manufactured watch movements. While Piaget is famously recognized today for their elaborate wristwatch and bangle designs, they also mastered the marriage of their high-quality, in-house-produced wristwatches and stunning pieces of jewelry.

Collectors consider the 1970s as Piaget's era of superb creativity and unbounded designs. During this highly creative period, the brand designed an impressive range of cuff and bracelet watches carved in gold and adorned with exotic hard stones. Admired by most as not only jewelry but also true works of art, the firm's hard stone dial watches remain the most iconic, recognizable and desirable among collectors.
