  • Catalogue Essay

Absolutely considered to be one of the brand’s most collectible reference produced in recent times, the Patek Philippe ref. 5370P split-seconds chronograph encapsulates the prestigious 1940s complication of the past and the prowess of modern innovation with the entirely in-house movement calibre CHR29-535 PS.

A celebration of Patek pureness and launched in Baselworld 2015, the gloss of a stunning rich black enamel dial decorated with the beauty of Breguet numerals works harmoniously with the choice of a sinuous platinum case. Without a doubt a pleasure to operate, the ref 5370P features a rattrapante innovation with a brand-new isolator that uncouples the split seconds wheel from the chronograph wheel to eliminate unwanted friction. Furthermore a split-seconds lever that positions a ruby roller between the two flat heart cam shoulders, allow the hands to be precisely aligned with satisfaction.

Made in extreme scarcity and an absolute stunner for the astute gentlemen, the reference was discontinued in 2020 with the launch of a blue enamel successor. The present ref. 5370P offered by the original owner with sparing use is preserved in excellent condition and is accompanied by its complete accessories. Furthermore, the present example has been recently serviced by Patek Philippe ensuring longevity for this future classic.

  • Artist Biography

    Patek Philippe

    Swiss • 1839

Since its founding in 1839, this famous Geneva-based firm has been surprising its clientele with superbly crafted timepieces fitted with watchmaking's most prestigious complications. Traditional and conservative designs are found across Patek Philippe's watches made throughout their history — the utmost in understated elegance.

Well-known for the Graves Supercomplication — a highly complicated pocket watch that was the world’s most complicated watch for 50 years — this family-owned brand has earned a reputation of excellence around the world. Patek's complicated vintage watches hold the highest number of world records for results achieved at auction compared with any other brand. For collectors, key models include the reference 1518, the world's first serially produced perpetual calendar chronograph, and its successor, the reference 2499. Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
