  • Catalogue Essay

    - Patek Philippe pioneered the annual calendar complication in 1996 with the ref. 5035. This hybrid mechanism requires only one correction per year at the end of February, unlike simpler triple calendars needing monthly adjustments or perpetual calendars needing none. After research and innovation, Patek Philippe launched their patented annual calendar which soon became a signature complication.

    - In 2005, the elegant ref. 4936 debuted as Patek Philippe's first annual calendar wristwatch specially crafted for ladies. The black Tahitian mother-of-pearl dial shimmers beneath 156 brilliant-cut diamonds adorning the bezel. Applied Roman numerals in white gold and an aperture displaying the date provide refined accents. Fourteen diamonds totaling nearly 1 carat crown the watch with a brilliance befitting Patek Philippe's dedication to exquisite details.

    - This dazzling yet refined example preserved in excellent condition with its certificate and presentation box epitomizes the maison's passion for horological mastery.

Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
