The reference 5960 is with no doubt an important milestone for Patek Philippe. It was the first time Patek Philippe featured a non-perpetual calendar into a self-winding chronograph. The 5960 was the first, as it also features an important in-house caliber in a period where Patek Philippe were still using Lemania ébauches in most of their productions. First introduced in 2006, alongside the reference 5980, the first examples were in platinum cases fitted with a grey dial such as the present example.

Housed inside the timeless Calatrava inspired case, is a beautiful grey dial featuring a never seen before chronograph 12-hour counter. Earning its nickname “the bull’s eye”, the chronographic counter is an iconic feature of the reference, providing an enhanced sporty appeal to the watch.

Adding to the attraction, the present example is a “new old stock” and it is further single-sealed without having seen a wrist during its lifetime, this is an incredible opportunity to be the first one.

For collectors, key models include the reference 1518, the world's first serially produced perpetual calendar chronograph, and its successor, the reference 2499. Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
