Catalogue Essay
The new reference 5270 was introduced by Patek Philippe in 2011 as one of the major milestone for the firm as they introduced the first ever in-house movement to be fitted in a perpetual calendar wristwatch since its initial innovation from the 1940’s. The reference was produced in three series from its initial launch till date. The first series featured a silvered dial with blackened white gold indexes with an uninterrupted railway track. The second series features a “chin” on the railway track also known as “Jay Leno” in the collector’s community and the third features a railway track that is overlapped by the 6 O’clock subsidiary dials.
The present example belongs to the first series of the reference 5270 introduced in 2011 and was only in production for one year. Featuring a silvered satin finished dial and blackened white gold indexes, the watch is further charmed by its attractive and excellent overall condition and its complete set of accessories.
