Released in 2011, the Aquanaut Travel Time ref. 5164 marked the debut of complications within the Aquanaut line, featuring an exclusive Travel Time mechanism, celebrated for its intuitive dual-time-zone functionality and a date display that automatically adjusts to local time. The Aquanaut Travel Time has three variants: stainless steel, pink gold and white gold. Initially released in stainless steel, the ref. 5164A-001, with a black dial and strap as seen in the present example, is now discontinued after its 13-year production run.

Retaining the collection’s unmistakable sporty character, the model is distinguished by its 40.8mm cushion-shaped case, embossed textured dial, and resilient tropical rubber strap. The dual-time function, indicated by an additional white skeleton hand, and displays both home and local day/night indications through two small apertures. The watch is equipped with two pushers on the left side of the case, owing to the cal. 26-330 S C FUS, allowing for easy adjustment of the local time while maintaining the case's symmetrical design.

The present ref. 5164A-001 in stainless steel from circa 2022 is made even more desirable by its Tiffany & Co. stamped dial and Certificate of Origin—details that greatly heighten its rarity and collectability. It is the sixth ref. 5164A-001 with a Tiffany & Co. signature surfaced on the auction market and is fresh to the market being the 6th example to appear. The watch is offered in excellent condition with its original accessories, including the setting pin. It is a desirable timepiece for discerning collectors looking for something extra special.

Since its founding in 1839, this famous Geneva-based firm has been surprising its clientele with superbly crafted timepieces fitted with watchmaking's most prestigious complications. Traditional and conservative designs are found across Patek Philippe's watches made throughout their history — the utmost in understated elegance.

Well-known for the Graves Supercomplication — a highly complicated pocket watch that was the world’s most complicated watch for 50 years — this family-owned brand has earned a reputation of excellence around the world. Patek's complicated vintage watches hold the highest number of world records for results achieved at auction compared with any other brand. For collectors, key models include the reference 1518, the world's first serially produced perpetual calendar chronograph, and its successor, the reference 2499. Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
