The Patek Philippe reference 5960 stands as a milestone creation, marking the manufacture’s first self-winding chronograph to feature an annual calendar complication. Introduced in 2006 alongside the Nautilus reference 5980, it debuted the completely in-house cal. CH 28-520—a movement designed, developed and assembled entirely within Patek Philippe's workshops. While produced in various metal and dial combinations over its lifespan, the present timepiece represents the original configuration: a platinum case paired with a slate-grey dial.

The movement's innovation is reflected on the dial, dominated by a single mono-counter subdial at 6 o’clock nicknamed the "bull's eye" that combines both the 60-minute and 12-hour chronograph registers. This also marked the very first time a 12-hour counter appeared on a serially produced Patek Philippe chronograph wristwatch.

The platinum execution of the reference 5960 remained in production until 2014. Enhancing its appeal to collectors, this earlier example features the historic Geneva Seal stamped on its movement bridges, prior to Patek Philippe's transition to the proprietary Patek Philippe Seal in 2009. Offered by its original owner, this timepiece comes as a complete set with all of its original accessories.

Patek Philippe

Swiss | 1839

Since its founding in 1839, this famous Geneva-based firm has been surprising its clientele with superbly crafted timepieces fitted with watchmaking's most prestigious complications. Traditional and conservative designs are found across Patek Philippe's watches made throughout their history — the utmost in understated elegance.

Well-known for the Graves Supercomplication — a highly complicated pocket watch that was the world’s most complicated watch for 50 years — this family-owned brand has earned a reputation of excellence around the world. Patek's complicated vintage watches hold the highest number of world records for results achieved at auction compared with any other brand. For collectors, key models include the reference 1518, the world's first serially produced perpetual calendar chronograph, and its successor, the reference 2499. Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
