Fresh to the market and to the best of our knowledge only the fifth example of ref. 3733/1 with lapis lazuli dial to appear publicly, the present yellow-gold Gondolo from 1977 is a perfect distillation of that spirit. Its power lies in the tension between warm yellow gold and a rich blue dial and its gold specks. The horizontal ribbing flows uninterrupted from case to bracelet so that the two become one continuous sculptural surface. Light catches the ridges and slides along them, giving the watch a living geometry.
Powered by the Geneva sealed manual wind calibre 215 and originally sold on 17 October 1978, the watch remains well preserved. Stone dials are notoriously fragile; this example surface has survived with its dial intact.
Visually striking yet astonishingly wearable, the ribbed bracelet settles flush against the wrist with an almost liquid comfort.
