Reference 5270 was introduced in 2011 at Baselworld as the replacement—featuring an in-house movement—for the reference 5970. Both models evolved from a highly successful line of perpetual calendar chronographs, starting in 1941 with the landmark reference 1518, followed by the iconic 2499 released in 1951 and modernized with the reference 3970 from 1986 to 2004.

Fitted with a contemporary and wearable 41mm case, its symmetrical dial offers a layout reminiscent of vintage predecessors, updated with a practical day-and-night indication. Applied pink gold hour markers and pink gold feuille hands harmonize perfectly with the case material.

Four years after its launch, in 2015, the model was updated with an 18K pink gold case following a platinum-cased version released the previous year; however, the present configuration featuring a striking black dial and an integrated gold bracelet only debuted in 2018.

Offered directly by the original owner, this luxurious timepiece is preserved in superb condition and comes with its original invoice, Certificate of Origin and box. Rarely appearing at international auction, it represents a compelling opportunity to acquire one of the most striking perpetual calendar chronographs in Patek Philippe's modern production.

Patek Philippe

Swiss | 1839

Since its founding in 1839, this famous Geneva-based firm has been surprising its clientele with superbly crafted timepieces fitted with watchmaking's most prestigious complications. Traditional and conservative designs are found across Patek Philippe's watches made throughout their history — the utmost in understated elegance.

Well-known for the Graves Supercomplication — a highly complicated pocket watch that was the world’s most complicated watch for 50 years — this family-owned brand has earned a reputation of excellence around the world. Patek's complicated vintage watches hold the highest number of world records for results achieved at auction compared with any other brand. For collectors, key models include the reference 1518, the world's first serially produced perpetual calendar chronograph, and its successor, the reference 2499. Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
