- Patek Philippe launched the ref. 5050 automatic perpetual calendar retrograde date wristwatch in 1993 and it remained in production until 2002. Originally encased in yellow gold, by 1995 the brand launched pink gold and white gold as well as platinum versions.
- Early examples feature silvered dials with applied Roman numerals and a moon phase aperture, later pieces such as the present example feature baton numerals and a moon phase within a subsidiary dial highlighted with the wording “automatic”.
- Research indicates approximately 150 examples were produced in pink gold, of which approximately 35 are known to the market. The present fresh-to-market example is offered by the original owner and accompanied by its Certificate of Origin, winding presentation box and additional solid caseback.
