Retailed by Tiffany & Co., the present timepiece bears the storied retailer’s signature beneath “Patek Philippe Genève” on the dial. Historically reserved for the most esteemed clientele, double-signed Patek Philippe and Tiffany & Co. watches are produced in exceedingly small numbers and seldom appear at auction, owing to their desirability among discerning collectors. Of exceptional importance, and to the best of our knowledge, this is the first example of this reference with this specific dial configuration to be offered publicly, underscoring its remarkable rarity.
In 2006, Patek Philippe unveiled the reference 5960, marking a pivotal milestone as the manufacture’s first in-house automatic annual calendar flyback chronograph wristwatch. Conceived as a demonstration of technical ingenuity, it seamlessly combined a chronograph with an annual calendar, two of the brand’s most celebrated complications. The model debuted in platinum with a smoky grey dial, before being subsequently introduced in a range of precious metals including pink and white gold.
The reference was met with widespread acclaim, distinguished by its contemporary aesthetic and highly legible “bull’s eye” chronograph display, complemented by pump pushers that lend a dynamic character to the case design. In 2014, Patek Philippe further expanded the lineage with the introduction of a stainless steel variant, paired with the brand’s signature “rice bead” bracelet, offering a more casual yet equally refined interpretation.
