Catalogue Essay
- Reintroduced in 1993, the Gondolo collection offers a fresh take on the Art Deco designs once created during Patek Philippe’s historic collaboration with Gondolo & Labouriau. Moving away from the brand’s classic round cases, the collection embraces more distinctive shapes—like tonneau, rectangular, and square—bringing vintage charm into a modern context.
- Launched in 1994, the reference 5030 was offered in pink, white, and yellow gold, as well as platinum, with a slim tonneau-shaped case and a range of dial variations, including Breguet and Arabic numerals. The present example is a rare version featuring a cream dial with diamond hour markers. Even more unusual, it features a diamond-set bezel and is therefore classified under its own reference, 5031—the “1” indicating the presence of factory-set diamonds, as is common with Patek Philippe’s gem-set models.
- Offered in excellent overall condition, this rare Gondolo is accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming its ivory cream dial with diamond hour markers and the presence of 132 diamonds. Adding further appeal, it is also offered with its original purchase receipt from the prestigious Singapore retailer, The Hour Glass. Dated to 1996 and confirmed by the Extract, this refined and uncommon timepiece is a rare opportunity to acquire a Gondolo that is ready to be worn, appreciated, and enjoyed.
