Catalogue Essay
A spectacular design both visually and in terms of wearability, the present yellow gold ref. 3629 from circa 1977 with an onyx dial is the perfect example. Crafted by Ateliers Réunis (Key 28) and powered by the manual wind cal. 177, the present timepiece is an exceptionally elegant and rare creation from Patek Philippe. A “HOX” stamp on the inside of the caseback indicates that the watch was imported to the United States. With stone dials being known to be fragile, the present onyx dial is well-preserved with no signs of fissure or cracks. The lug-less design allows the beholder to admire the perfectly proportioned case in all of its unabashed geometrical beauty.

Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
