Catalogue Essay
A true testament to technical mastery, the intricacy of the split-seconds module, combined with the already complex perpetual calendar, made manufacturing this watch a challenge, resulting in only a small number being delivered each year. Powered by the Lemania-based caliber, which can be admired through the crystal case back, the reference was produced in various metals—including pink gold, yellow gold, white gold, platinum and stainless steel—over its 16-year run from 1994 to 2010.
Measuring an elegant 36mm in diameter, the watch strikes the perfect balance between size and aesthetics, sharing design elements with references 3970, 2499, and 1518. Its stepped case is slightly thicker and larger than its predecessors, accommodating the split-seconds complication and lending a contemporary presence to the wrist. Featuring an oversized crown at 3 o’clock and a subtle silvered dial with applied Arabic numerals, this platinum example exudes a harmonious blend of simplicity, modern aesthetics, and traditional craftsmanship—a winning combination that makes it one of the most desirable and versatile wristwatches.
Fresh to the market, the present reference 5004P-021 is offered in well-preserved condition and was acquired through a Hong Kong retailer, as indicated on the Certificate of Origin.
