Catalogue Essay
The World Time has long been an admirable asset to the firm’s established heritage. First developed by Louis Cottier in the 1930s, it did not take long for Patek Philippe to incorporate the innovative mechanism to their very first world time, the legendary ref. 1415, adopting an inner rotating disc decorated with 24 various time zones indicated by their respective cities.
Patek Philippe World Time wristwatches remains largely unchanged. To celebrate the new millennium, the firm released the ref. 5110 and was the first world time reference introduced since the ref. 2523, which was discontinued in the mid 60s. With a successful reception among collectors, the ref. 5110 was discontinued in 2006 and made way for the new ref. 5130, featuring a similar aesthetics to its previous model, but with a larger case, measuring 39.5mm in diameter.
Released in a total of four metals, the last to be released in 2017 was the ref. 5131/1P-001 in platinum featuring a bracelet. Regarded as one of the most sought after modern Patek Philippe references since its launch, the beautifully crafted platinum bracelet exudes luxury with its heft. Recently discontinued in 2021, the demand for these exceptional world time wristwatches is ever growing. Offered in excellent overall condition, the present example from circa 2019 is accompanied by its full set of accessories.

Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
